Property Records Industry Association (PRIA)

The Property Records Industry Association (PRIA) represents a unique partnership of business and government members of the property records industry, with the end goal of facilitating recordation and access to public property records. This goal is accomplished by facilitating the research, development, creation and implementation of national standards, systems and procedures for the industry.

PRIA is a membership-driven organization, with a board of directors elected by its members who are responsible for management of the association . PRIA Bylaws and Operating Rules provide specific requirements that govern the association’s operations and activities.

The professional skills and industry knowledge provided by PRIA members, combined with a unique diversity and neutral objectivity, make possible responsible evaluation and formulation of industry standards. Following extensive research and discussion, and working cooperatively with our industry alliances, standards, model legislation and best practices are formulated, developed and disseminated. Such work is done on a continuous basis, as new issues continue to challenge the property records industry.

The International Association of Clerks, Recorders, Election Officials and Treasurers (IACREOT) was founded in 1971 by a small group of government officials who wanted a professional organization which would provide a forum for the free exchange of information, resulting in improved standards for serving the public. Members are government officials whose responsibilities fall into one of our four divisions – finance, land records, courts and elections. IACREOT monitors federal legislation that might affect its members in the performance of their respective duties, and if necessary, resolutions or letters are drafted to congress regarding the effect of pending legislation.
